Rick Cikowski is a TV director, interactive media designer, video editor and the co-founder of Corner of the Cave Media. He was recently executive producer, co-director and lead editor on Real Change: Artists for Education which aired on CBS on April 23rd, 2013. Rick also recently edited Behind The Music: Ludacris which was being shot/edited/produced/written through the Cave and which aired on VH1 on July 28th, 2013.
Rick was co-producer and lead editor on Far Out Isn’t Far Enough: The Tomi Ungerer Story about the subversive and perverse Alsatian illustrator and author Tomi Ungerer. First Run Features picked up North American rights, Paris-based Le Pacte is handling French distribution and International sales (non-English), and PBS Distribution has scooped up English-speaking territories outside of North America. Far Out will have its theatrical opening in New York at the esteemed Lincoln Plaza Cinemas on June 14th and in Los Angeles on June 21st at Landmark Nuart and will play in multiple cities in 2012 and ’13.
Cikowki’s editing credits include lead editor on RECORDING: The History of Recorded Music, an 8-part documentary series shot in high-definition that traces America’s history since Thomas Edison invented the first sound recording device in 1877 to the Internet. His internationally aired work has led him as far afield as Russia and India where he worked with the Dalai Lama on HBO’s Little Monk. He has also cut shows for various networks such as Shark Week’s Day of the Shark for Discovery Channel, Amazing Animal Inventions for Animal Planet, Dangerous Beauty for MSNBC, History’s Mysteries for History Channel, and La Esquina, a weekly series for with hip hop star Pitbull. He has collaborated with numerous recording artists from Boyz N Da Hood on MTV Makes A Video to Iron & Wine’s music video for Naked As We Came. He also contributed editing and graphic work to Paul Simon’s Children Health Fund. Cikowski’s talents have made him a key resource for HBO, CBS, Fox, MTV, Travel Channel, The History Channel, ESPN, PBS, and Showtime.
Cikowski’s interactive media design includes websites for Royal Caribbean, Jazz Roots, ParentLab.com, SmartHealthUsa.com, The Discovery Channel and most recently GoNSyde.com. He has created interactive web based games for movies such as I am Legend, Pink Panther 2, Sunny with a Chance of Meatballs and Body of Lies, and has produced web-based interactive content for Carib Beer, The Miami Heat and recording artist Pitbull. Cikowski recently produced the highly regarded “Planet Pit” ROBA App as well as the groundbreaking app An Evening with Dave Grusin which Billboard Magazine called “The Future of Music.” Both titles are currently for sale on iTunes.
